"SARA! YOU'RE HOME"

I chose a recent AT&T Commercial. It begins with a little girl posting a lost dog sign on a board with a sad expression. A college student sees the sign and the little girl walking away with the rest of the signs. He then takes a picture of the sign and texts it to all his friends. We then see multiple people, in college settings, such as a dorm room, outside a building, and in a library. Then a girl gets the text with the dog in front of her. The guy then receives a text saying “Found the dog!!!” Last we see the little girl walking home. The college student is sitting on the steps with the dog. The little girl yells “SARA! You’re HOME!” as she runs to the dog and the dog runs back. The last image is the college student smiling at his good deed.
As Americans we find this story to be heart-warming. The first scene is the little girl posting signs; many people do that in hopes someone will recognize their dog from the sign. This commercial has a twist because the college student takes initiative to help the little girl. Throughout the commercial we see different races hanging out together; this symbolizes equality. This video text lets us believe people go out of their way to help other people; people do good deeds just because. As Americans we are very self-centered people. This commercial is reminding us to think of others also and that it feels good to help others.
As far as selling AT&T to people, the message is clear: “The Nation’s Fastest 3G Network.” The text went out fast, and the college student got his answer fast. The dog was found before the little girl made it home from putting up her signs.
