Owl has flown/In class essay

The main idea of my in class essay was that you should have some kind of expert testimony to help your ideas and opinions to seem more credible. I also believed that people should write about something that you care about so that your ideas reflect just enough of how strongly you feel about the subject but not to much. One of the things in the essay "The Owl has flown" that I noticed that ties in with the main idea of my essay was that the author used tons of examples using historical figures. The figures who we're great at what they did make what the author is trying to say seem more believable to someone who is reading the text to get a better/higher understanding of what’s going on.

In the discussions of the author of "The owl has flown" a controversial issue is stated when the author says "In our lateral age, living in the bureaucracies of information, we don't venture a claim to the kind of understanding." My own view accurately reflects what he states and I could say it no better way. What I believe this quote to mean is that as people get older they lose the impact of all of the information because of the stress that the passing of time has inflicted upon them.

I couldn't honestly say that my views about reading and writing have really changed but the essays that I have read so far in this class have allowed me to delve into deeper thought of the subject to further the understanding of my beliefs on reading and writing.
