"Deep Time"

The times that I have found myself experiencing “deep time” would be when I played basketball. I would focus so much on my technique and my form in order to make a shot, but still remembering the game as a whole. Focusing on the whole picture of the game in ways such as looking to see where there is open space on the court, what weaknesses the other players are demonstrating, and how my strengths could help me be successful in that very moment. I would be “in the zone” focusing on both me specifically, but also everything else around me at the same time. In these cases, time was slowed down and endless. Even though I would be making quick judgments in what would work out best, I still experienced that sense of deep endless time.

This experience fits Birkerts definition because in this situation time was not flattened and wasn’t just a specific measurement. It was thought over, and the potential significance was shown through the results of thinking my moves over. So overall, dealing with the specific information and elaborating on that thought.
