Reading Response to Birkerts "The Owl Has Flown"

For my in-class essay my main focus was on which is better emailing and typing essays or writing letters and essays. I felt that the use of technology is a great choice for emailing and typing essays, which allows us to communicate with those near and far in a matter of seconds. Typing essays allows us to write an organized perfect essay. It allows us to revise our essays so they have little to no errors without rewriting the essay by hand 2+ times.
In “The Owl Has Flown” Sven Birkerts states that, “The computer, our high-speed, accessing, storing, and sorting tools, appears as a god send.” (33) Basically Birkerts is saying that computers allow us to access all sorts of things, save and store things, and organize in a matter of seconds due to the high-speed. Birkerts quote influences my writing because he clarifies my writing. Emailing is high speed allowing us to message people as fast as a click of a button. Computers help us organize our typed essays so that it flows for easy understanding of the essay using cut and paste. The computer allows us to save and store the essays as long as it’s needed.
