quotation sandwich

In my essay I was trying to say that technology is improving writing of college students, not making it worse. Students are writing more often than in the past, which gives them more practice to improve their writing skills. Birkerts complicates matters further when he writes, “The inscription is light but it covers vast territories: quantity is elevated over quality.” (page 30) In making this comment, Birkert argues that people are reading more various pieces of literature versus analyzing a couple pieces to a high-quality extent. This influences the topic of technology advancing young writing because technology allows students to write frequently, but according to Birkert, a quality paper that continues to improve is better than repeatedly writing all sorts of pieces of literature.
