Commercial Reading Response

Make up has made its mark on America. A large portion of our society uses these products everyday. I looked through multiple commercials and found a Maybelline Lip Plumper add. It begins with a classic logo and describe how seductive the merchandise makes women’s lips. Increasing the fullness by 30 percent, as well as giving lips more “puff” and “pout.” There are multiple shots of the lip plumper itself and different varieties of the product and also scenes of women who wear the gloss and how much it has improved their looks. In the background there is energetic upbeat music that fills in any portion where this product isn’t being expressed.

This ad portrays that in order to be beautiful and seductive you should buy the Maybelline Lip Plumper. We all have a draw to want the next best thing and this pulls us into buying these items. The myth to this is that in order to be happy you should be beautiful and to be this attractive you need this device. This source or proclamation is not only displayed in commercials like these but on bulletin boards and in magazines. And with the constant reminders of assorted ways to polish ourselves obviously we will eventually be purchasing these things. You can be led to the big problem of the pressures put on women today. There are such high standards and it is easy to say we could get desperate to have this desired beauty. Therefore we turn to these materials to advance our appearances. It is important though that inner strength and elegance are not lost.
