Above ground
In my own life I only have one place where I feel I experience “deep time” and that’s when I’m on my silks. Being above ground and having only fabric to hold me up lets my mind go and I can really think. It gives me time away from the fast pace world to contemplate smaller things like what I read in class and what I take it to mean. I don’t really have time at school to think about these things because so much else is distracting me. I feel free; it’s my time to remove myself from T.V, computers and homework.
However, I do feel that to Birkerts definition I would add the importance of also trying to not think about anything at times, it helps clear and calm your mind and alleviate stress.
