Don’t Judge Too Quickly...

My selection of Ameriquest Mortgage advertisements was because of two reasons the first being there ad slogan "proud sponsor of the American dream" and secondly because the advertisements use of a humorous platform; "don’t judge too quickly". Ameriguest is widely known in the United States, advertising on television, blimps that fly over football and baseball stadiums, and even sponsored the Rolling Stones in a 2005 U.S. tour, not to mention NASCAR drivers.

With the tagline "Don’t Judge Too Quickly", a series of television advertisements for Ameriquest Mortgage have been spreading quite naturally across the internet since they were first uploaded on video sharing platforms. All the spots in this series fit the criterion for good viral videos - they are focussed, short, amusing and unpredictable. Via these ads, Ameriquest Mortgage, the leading US wholesale subprime lender puts forth the message that it won’t judge its clients quickly and superficially. Through these ads, Ameriquest successfully positions itself as the company that understands its clients.

Ironically enough, Ameriquest in May 2006 decided to close all 229 retail branches and cut 3,800 jobs, in the wake of the subprime mortgage crisis. Apparently the company had taken the ‘We won’t judge too quickly’ approach too far.

9: how does the style of presentation contribute to the meaning of the text?

Using humor and situations that could actually occur to show the viewer that they should "don't judge too quickly"

  2. The style of the presentation reveals a way to comically relieve the viewers, but still have them remember a simple slogan like "we won't judge too quickly." This strategy is effective, giving a very strongly overexaggerated sense of what they're trying to say. Sometimes learning the hardest extreme of something will help the idea ingrain into your mind.
